WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO KNOW THE WEIGHT OF VOLUME EXTENSIONS?
Every client is different and has a different thickness of natural lashes, therefore will have different eyelash extension requirements. As a client they can choose the shape, coverage, length and curl for their lash design but not the WEIGHT! This is the job of the technician to choose. As a technician our first job is to maintain the health and strength of the natural lash and our second job is to make them look and perform well. Get this mixed up and you have failed as a lash Expert.
Your mission is to make sure the volume lashes are not too heavy for the natural lash.
When choosing extension weight, you want to keep the diameter in mind. The higher the diameter, the thicker and heavier the extension.
THE CORRECT WAY OF CALCULATING THE VOLUME WEIGHT ON THE NATURAL LASH.
You will need to consider and determine the thickness of the natural lash before making fans. Here is an example of how lash diameter looks on a natural lash.
Is It Good For The Hair?
The Hybrid tint has Henna extract in it. It is not added for colouring effect in the tint but instead the Henna extract is added because it contains beautiful things which help stimulate hair follicle growth. It also has proteins, antioxidants, and vitamin E, which repair hair damage.
So not only will you get fantastic looking brows using Hybrid tint, but you will also get nourished and soft brows. We think this is a great additional selling point for clients with sparse brows.
WHAT IS A SAFE WEIGHT TO PUT ON 1 NATURAL LASH?
You should always study the clients’ natural lashes and decide on the thickness that will keep their lashes healthy and happy.
For a thin natural lash which generally are Asian clients and other ethnicities as well as clients over 50. For these clients it is recommended to use a lighter diameter. Classic weight of 0.1mm translated to a volume weight would be:
1 of 0.1mm = 2d fan of 0.07mm = 4d fan of 0.005mm = 0.03mm
For a healthy natural lash which would be the majority of your clients and younger can hold 015mm translated to a volume weight would be:
1 of 0.15mm = 4-5dfan of 0.07mm = 8d fan of 0.05mm = 19dfan of 0.03mm
For thick, strong natural lash which typically is a smaller percentage of clients, or people with dark thick hair with olive complexions and younger clients can hold 0.18mm
Translated to a volume weight would be:
1 lash of 0.18mm = 3d fan of 0.10mm = 8d fan of 0.07mm = 17d fan of 0.05mm = 20d fan of 0.03mm
This is just a guide at the end of the day depending on their natural strength you may have to alter the equations.
IS TWO 0.10 LASHES EQUAL TO ONE 0.20 LASH?
2 of 0.1mm lashes are often thought to have the same weight as 1 0.20mm because that’s simple maths, right? WRONG! Placing 2 0.10mm lashes next to each other leaves a negative space around them compared to one 0.2mm lash. So, there is a lot of air between them that weighs nothing, and this is why these two 0.1mm lashes are lighter than one 0.20mm lash.
0.10mm silk lash weighs 0.09mg 0.20 silk lash weighs 0.34mg
Instead of one 0.20 lash, you can use up to four 01.0 lashes and not just two.
